Oral Board Interview
|
Write each question below on one side of a 3x5 index card and your answer on the other side. Buy a small personal voice recorder and read your answer into it. Do one question at a time; keep rewinding it and listen to your answer. If it sounds bad to you, it sounds bad to the Chiefs at the oral board. Your answers will start to flow nice and smooth about the 20th time you read it.

This is an example of a physical agility exam there are many different exams, some are much harder. This exam is timed, the time starts when you touch the hose and ends when you place the smoke ejector in the designated spot. Remember some exams are PASS/FAIL and some are scored on your TIME

As a fire fighter, you will need to have good mathematical aptitude to determine hydralics, volumetrics, friction loss, and flow formulas. This section is designed with the purpose of reviewing only those aspects of math that have been predominantly seen on past exams. If you find any area of weakness, you will need to seek additional study time to improve in that area

Reading comprehension is required to read the mass amount of fire related books so one can improve his/her knowledge base. From the time a candidate begins academy training through each promotional step, a vast amount of material will be studied, interpreted, and applied to the job. Much of this material is technical and requires sincere effort to retain the information. Therefore, in most fire fire fighter exams, reading comprehension is an expected element. Candidates have stated this is the most difficult of all parts of the exam. Verbalizing what you're reading helps in retaining that information
