| Job Description: |
The City of Pullman Civil Service Commission will be testing to establish a new entry-level firefighter/EMT eligibility list. This position performs a variety of life and property protection work through the suppression and prevention of fires and in response to emergency aide calls on a shift. At the scene of a fire, work is performed under hazardous conditions involving smoke, heat, and cramped surroundings, generally requiring strenuous physical exertion. At the scene of a medical emergency or accident, firefighters attend to the public under extreme stress conditions involving trauma, suffering, and personal tragedies. New employees receive on-the-job training as a Firefighter/EMT. |
| Job Requirements: |
Qualifications include: 21 years of age at the time of appointment; high school graduate or G.E.D.; U.S. citizen; possession of a valid driver's license; ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; possession of current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of Washington. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements of Section 41.08.070 of the Revised Code of Washington. |

The testing process will consist of a written examination, physical agility test, and a written assessment and evaluation. The written test will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008. The top 20 candidates from the written examination will then complete a physical agility test to be held on Saturday afternoon. Eligible candidates invited to participate in the testing process will be notified of specific test times after the closing date. THERE WILL BE A TEST FEE OF $20.00 (CHECK OR MONEY ORDER, NO CASH) CHARGED TO EACH PARTICIPANT WHICH MUST ACCOMPANY THE COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM. THIS FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE SHOULD YOU BE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION. Indigent waivers are available.
A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT EMT CERTIFICATION MUST ALSO BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR APPLICATION. |
